1st Advisory Music News
Welcome to a new school year in music class! For those that are new to HJB, my name is Mrs. Grant and I am the music teacher for all the students at HJB. Your child will have music class once a week, and one 'extra music' class generally once a month. In music, we do many different activities. We sing, play instruments, learn rhythms and basic note reading, play music games, do a lot of movement activities, hear different styles of music, and many other activities.
This advisory, the younger grades are doing a lot of 'getting to you know' songs, as well as songs that focus on steady beat. As we head into fall, we will focus as well on many seasonal songs that incorporate a lot of movement. The upper grades are learning some patriotic songs to start out the year and how people can be inspired to write or perform music. 4th and 5th grades are also starting the year off by learning a fun rhythm activity using a plastic cup! I will also be incorporating some fun seasonal songs and movement activities this fall too.
4th and 5th graders will be receiving a letter home in the next few weeks about the opportunity to be in the chorus this year. Please take time to read through the information with you child if your child is interested. This is a morning activity, before school starts (8:05-8:35). More details will follow in the letter home.

I'm looking forward to a great year with all the students at HJB!
